FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Seeking therapy or assessment as a neurodivergent adult can bring up a lot of questions. Below are answers to some of the most common questions about therapy, adult Autism and ADHD assessments, neurotype exploration, sensory profiles, and telehealth services in Washington State.
What services do you offer?
I offer:
All services are provided virtually for adults located anywhere in Washington State.
What makes your assessments different?
Comprehensive assessments are designed to look at the broader picture of your experiences rather than focusing narrowly on a single diagnosis.
All assessments are comprehensive and differential in nature, meaning the evaluation process considers a wide range of factors that may contribute to someone’s experiences, including Autism, ADHD, sensory differences, masking, burnout, trauma, anxiety, nervous system stress, and other commonly co-occurring experiences rather than evaluating concerns in isolation.
Many neurodivergent adults have overlapping traits or complex histories, particularly those who were overlooked, misunderstood, or misidentified earlier in life. Because of this, assessment focuses on thoughtful clarification grounded in the full context of someone’s lived experience rather than forcing someone into a narrow diagnostic category from the outset.
The goal is accuracy, understanding, and meaningful insight, not reducing someone to a checklist or predetermined label.
Does assessment guarantee a diagnosis?
No.
Assessment is not designed to force someone into a diagnosis or predetermined category. The goal is thoughtful, ethical, neurodiversity-affirming evaluation based on the information gathered throughout the process.
Sometimes assessment confirms Autism, ADHD, or both. Sometimes it clarifies that another explanation may better account for someone’s experiences.
The goal is accuracy, clarity, and understanding, not fitting someone into a label that does not genuinely reflect their experiences.
What about medication or disability benefits?
As with any assessment, a diagnosis does not guarantee that a physician will prescribe medication.
Due to Washington State regulations, these assessments cannot be used to qualify for government disability benefits. Individuals seeking documentation specifically for disability determinations would need a full neuropsychological evaluation completed by a psychologist or similarly qualified provider.
What is a neurotype exploration session?
Neurotype exploration sessions offer space to explore questions related to Autism, ADHD, sensory experiences, masking, burnout, identity, or neurodivergence in general.
Some people pursue these sessions because they are still deciding whether they want a formal assessment. Others simply want a place to process experiences, ask questions, or receive resources and guidance from a neurodiversity-affirming perspective.
What is a sensory profile?
A sensory profile includes:
A one-hour session discussing your sensory experiences
Self-report assessments completed online
A summary report with explanations, resources, and recommendations
Many neurodivergent adults find that understanding their sensory patterns helps explain burnout, overwhelm, shutdown, irritability, fatigue, and difficulty functioning in environments that constantly overload their nervous system.
Sensory profiles are available both as a standalone service and as part of every comprehensive assessment.
Do you take insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly.
Some clients choose to submit superbills for possible reimbursement through their out-of-network benefits.
For information about reimbursement, superbills, payment policies, and fees, please visit the Pricing & Policies page.
Where do you offer services?
All services are provided virtually through telehealth and are available to adults located anywhere in Washington State.
How do I get started?
Getting started begins with a free 15-minute consultation.
This gives us a chance to talk about what you’re looking for, ask questions, and see whether we feel like a good fit to work together.
Many adults reach out after years of wondering whether they may be Autistic, ADHD, both, or neither. Some people come in feeling burned out, chronically overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted from masking, or unsure whether assessment is even appropriate for them.
You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out.
If we decide to move forward together, we’ll schedule your next appointment from there.
